As children develop their identity, preferences and interests, our Young Artists Program looks closely at the drive behind the artist’s mind. What does it take to make a powerful piece of art? What skills are needed to speak through images?
Our courses assist young artists in developing observational drawing and painting skills that give them the tools to express their inner worlds and selves as they grow into teenagers. Our curricula strives to cover an assortment of projects that aside from drawing and painting may include collage, sculpture, collaborative works, mixed media projects and narrative illustrations.
Art Encounters is committed to teaching students not only technique and expression, but also the importance of finishing that which is started. A large part of our educational system focuses on commitment, completion and the rewards that effort and discipline offer; we believe it is healthy for children to learn these lessons in these times of instant gratification and overly appreciated outcomes.
