Led by Brock Q. Piper, this specialist program offers young teens who are in grades 6 – 8 in 2020 the opportunity to develop a range of fundamental drawing skills that will bring the page to life, foster creativity, and establish a foundation for their art practice that can be carried forward into their teenage years.
In today’s society of immediate technological gratification, the process of art making provides students with an alternative creative outlet, and we endeavour to make the pursuit of excellent outcomes a fun and rewarding task within the age expectations of our programs. Throughout the term students will experiment with a range of mediums including pencil, charcoal, ink and watercolour, to each create a unique series of observational and realistic works depicting themes from still life to portraiture. Class sizes are strictly limited and have an atmosphere that is inspiring and supportive, with a beginning, middle and end to each process so that students learn not only about art but about effort and consistency.
