International Art Competition for Children & Teens

Over the past months the children of the world have in many places been confined to a life within the home. It is as if the world has taken a deep breath in, held it, and life now takes place in a much smaller and more confined territory. Although children are by nature incredibly adaptable, how may this be playing out in their individual emotional landscapes?

The ‘My World At Home’ art competition is free to enter and open to young artists aged 5 to 18 years across three age groups.

To enter, artists must create an image that relates to what life looks like for them within their home at the moment.

Entries must be submitted by 9th August 2020.

Our Story

With over 20 years of educating Melbourne’s young visual art’s community, Art Encounters has consistently considered the poignant need of creative youth to find an authentic place of learning such that they can gain the disciplined skills that offer informed tools that give them the ability to express their world visually with confidence.

It is in this spirit that we are launching our first international art competition to sew the seeds of creating a global community of young creatives from all nations, backgrounds, belief systems, political structures and socioeconomic conditions.

“My World at Home” offers a venue of meeting and seeing the mosaic of different experiences that are happening right now in this unprecedented collective experience made different by advanced technology and our ability to connect easily with each other.

It also offers the opportunity to young artist to articulate visually, how they are feeling and experiencing this world crisis.
